I've always been interested in websites and design. I started early: I had a home on the web way back when with geocities, before it was bought by yahoo. Oh how I wish I could share it, with its vibrant Paint-created graphics and Comic Sans text. Alas, it is no more. However, even back in middle school, I was coding my own websites, and I'm proud to say that my tastes and abilities have grown a lot better over the years.
If you like what you see in my examples below, and you're looking for an affordable website designer, please email me at sarah at sarahreck dot com and we can discuss it.
While I have been designing my own website for over a decade (and it has gone through many changes), it is only more recently that I've begun designing for other people. I'm mostly interested in bold color schemes, smooth lines, fonts that aren't TNR, Arial, Tahoma, and the like (which is why Google Web Fonts is my BFF), and easily navigable layouts and design.

cover & layout design
My role with Hyacinth Girl Press includes both the internal layouts of chapbooks and the design of some of the covers. In many cases, I work with a specific piece of cover art and arrange and style the text on it. Though in a few cases, I have chosen the art or photography and designed the entire cover from the start.

other design work
In addition to web design, I enjoy fiddling around in Photoshop. A lot of what I do is typography work with text for my blog or quotations. Additionally, I am skilled with the Scribus desktop publishing program and consider myself a beginner-to-intermediate with InDesign.
